Important Information Regarding FSA PIN and the IRS Data Retrieval Tool

  • The Federal Student Aid (FSA) PIN was replaced by the FSA ID, which is a username and password. If you have not logged into a FSA website (such as FAFSA.ed.gov or studentloans.gov) since May 2015, you will need to create a FSA ID before you can access the sites. Please follow the link to the FSA website for additional information and instructions and to create your username and password.
  • The IRS Data Retrieval Tool allows students and parents to quickly access their IRS tax return information needed to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We highly recommend that aid applicants completing the FAFSA use this tool. This is the best way to assure accurate tax return information on your FAFSA.
