Career Services always strives to work together with St. Lawrence faculty and staff to provide the best possible career advising for our students. A number of resources through Career Services could be of help to faculty members as you work with your academic advisees. Please feel free to contact us with questions or point your students toward any of the resources we have available. We also recognize that many faculty members and academic departments have strong alumni networks, and we encourage sharing information regarding internships, jobs, or other networking opportunities between departments and our office. We are always eager to help spread the word about new career opportunities and connections made through academic departments or through other campus connections.
Resources you may want to share with your advisees and students:
SAINTSLink is our database of jobs and internships. All of our “alumni sponsored” opportunities are posted here, as well as all our on-campus recruiting events. All SLU students have access to SAINTSLink (located on the upper left-hand corner of the Career Services website) by using their student e-mail address as their username, and the student ID number as their password. By logging on to SAINTSLink, St. Lawrence students can also access a large number of jobs and internships on the Liberal Arts Career Network database and the National Internship Consortium database.
Individual Appointments with Career Services professional staff as well as our student Peer Advisors can be made at any time. Students of all class years are welcome to make appointments regarding a variety of subjects including resume and cover letter writing, finding internships and job, networking, graduate school applications, interview preparation, and career exploration. Students can simply stop by our office in the Sullivan Student Center to schedule an appointment, or they can call at x5906. Drop-ins are also welcome on a first-come-first-served basis from 1-3pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Presentations and Workshops are available on a wide variety of subjects throughout the academic year. All our events are posted on SLUwire and can also be found on the Career Services website. A number of our presentations are also available for viewing anytime in our media room, also located on the Career Services website. Theses presentations include topics such as resumes, cover letters, interviewing, finding internships, and job searching.
Ways to collaborate with Career Services
The Career Services office is always interested in finding new ways to reach students. If your academic department is interested in working together to provide programming or resources that help prepare your students for their future career field, we would love to speak with you and find new ways to collaborate together.
As mentioned before, we also believe we can gain a great deal from sharing networks and career knowledge with each other. If your department receives information about internships, jobs, fellowships, graduate programs, or other career-related opportunities, we would love to have that information available to share with students as well!
