Chemistry has been my way of discovering what is going on in the world, and figuring out how to increase our knowledge on how to make it better. As a student of this fundamental science, I have been able to learn more about how the interactions of humans with the Earth affect the environment around us. I have also attempted to work with relevant projects in the areas of alternative fuels and air quality in order to stay connected to the world around me and not just the laboratory.
The faculty at SLU is extremely passionate about their work, and even more excited about the work their students undertake. The office doors of each professor stays open as they are willing to answer any question you have or just talk about where you are and where you are going as a chemist. The Johnson Hall of Science provides a perfect environment to learn important skills in the laboratory and also work with new technologies that are rarely offered in liberal arts schools like St. Lawrence. Mix all of this in with peers who are just as curious about chemistry as you are…and you are on your way to having an amazing 4 years.
