Before I arrived at St. Lawrence, I was almost certain I wanted to major in chemistry. Like most students, I took a variety of courses in different departments during my first two years. Although this gave me an overview of different disciplines, chemistry was the only subject that stuck. Each chemistry course I took was interesting. My studies in chemistry help me to understand the physical world around me at the molecular level. A major in chemistry at St. Lawrence allows students to make a difference and take advantage of great opportunities. Every year, students and professors collaborate on original research projects, either for the sake of increasing the base of knowledge or to address current issues. Every professor is willing to help students at the drop of a hat, an invaluable resource in my opinion. I chose to minor in Francophone Studies because I believe that being able to read, write and speak another language is an important skill to have in a globalized society.
