St. Lawrence University is a four-year residential University, requiring its students to live and eat on campus during each semester. We operate our own dining service, one of the most student-oriented dining services in the country. Catering to your needs is our prime objective and we truly want to satisfy you. We offer wholesome, nutritious, home-style, traditional meals as well as fast food and convenience store items for those who prefer them.
Local Foods and Sustainable Products
Dining Services works in partnership with North Country Grown Cooperative and other local businesses to provide local foods on our menus. Some of our local products include maple syrup, milk, apple cider, spring water and local produce in season. We are proud to serve organic fair trade coffee as well.
We also purchase bio-degradable products such as napkins, disposable plates and take-out containers.

Recipes from Home Program:
We invite all incoming freshmen and their parents to join our recipe program. We're always searching for new ideas for our dining hall menus. Often we hear students say, "My Mom makes the best spaghetti I've ever had!" or "Why can't you make barbecued chicken as well as Dad can?" For over 20 years we have invited parents and students to send recipes from home, and the results have been terrific!
Send us your family favorite, or a recipe that hits the spot with you. After converting it to serve 2,000 and testing the emerging recipe, we'll add it to the menu. We'll even spread your fame: Betty Smith's Mom's Spaghetti with Zucchini or Steve Carter's Dad's BBQ Chicken will bring rave reviews. The recipe form is available on the Recipes from Home page so that you can return it with all other FYP information.
St. Lawrence University Dining Services makes every attempt to identify ingredients which might cause allergic reactions for those with food allergies. Every effort is made to instruct our food production staff on the severity of food allergies. There is always a risk of contamination. There is also a possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods we use could change or substitute at any time, without notice. Customers concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk. St. Lawrence University Dining Services will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to food consumed, or items one may come in contact with while eating an any University establishments. Students/customers with food allergies are encouraged to contact Dining Services at St. Lawrence University for additional information and/or support.
Dining services offers you a choice from our Variable Meal Plans. The Variable Meal Plans were designed in response to suggestions, inquiries, and assistance from University students and particularly the Committee on Residential Life. These plans allow a student to choose a dining pattern of his or her choice. At the same time, we have sought to maintain the advantages of our "all you can eat" policy at each particular meal. Underclass students may choose from two different meal plans while seniors may choose from three. In addition,
all students may carry a community-wide account with any meal plan they choose.
Descriptions of all meal plans follow. Please read through the plan descriptions. You will automatically be placed on the Full-Flex Meal Plan; if you prefer the 21-Meal Plan, send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org. When you arrive on campus, your chosen meal plan will be in effect and you will have a five-day grace period in which you may change to a different plan. After that time, you will not be able to change until the beginning of the next semester.
We encourage each student to bring one or two settings of silverware and dishes for use in your room. There are events students celebrate, such as birthdays, when these items are needed. "Souvenirs" from the dining facilities are often used for these occasions, but this increases our cost of serving you. Please help us by bringing a set or two from home.
We hope you continue to enjoy the fine variety of food and beverages offered by our dining services staff, and that the Variable Meal Plans provide you with added flexibility in tailoring your own diet. If you have any questions regarding our program or services in general, please do not hesitate to contact us at 315-229-5995 or email Dining and Conference Services.
