I came to St. Lawrence intending to study Biology and Mathematics, but after enrolling in a writing class in the fall of my sophomore year, I fell in love with the English Department and declared a writing major. During my junior year I received a Tanner Fellowship for the following summer, which allowed me to undertake a writing project while spending 50 days in the wilderness hiking all 46 of the high peaks in the Adirondack State Park. I have also taken advantage of the abroad programs offered through the school and spent the second half of my junior year in New Zealand. After college I hope to spend time serving in the Peace Corps or a similar organization, before attending graduate or medical school.
St. Lawrence has provided me with countless opportunities to pursue several passions which I was not aware I had until arriving. With support from the English and Math departments I will be working on two honors projects during my senior year, which will connect my interest in the medical field to my academic pursuits. What I have found during my time here is that St. Lawrence is a place of truly genuine people, which for me has made all the difference.
