Four chemistry students gave poster presentations at the 233rd American Chemical
Society National Meeting & Exposition held March 25-29, 2007, in Chicago.
Melissa Wells '07, of Rochester, New York, presented the poster "The purification
of the ligand binding domain of the human Androgen Receptor and the
analysis of binding of testosterone and mibolerone." Her research was conducted
through a University Fellowship in 2006, Assistant Professor of Chemistry Matthew
Jennifer Achtyl '08, of Amsterdam, New York, presented the poster "Synthesis of
a ruthenium polypyridyl complex for kinetics studies." Achtyl was a Heuer Fellow
in 2006, conducting research with Assistant Professor of Chemistry Samantha Glazier.
Stephanie Walter '08, of Syracuse, New York, presented the poster "Synthesis of
ruthenium complex with bipyridine ligands featuring aromatic side chains for
use in DNA binding." Walter was also a 2006 Heuer Fellow, conducting research
Andrew Kozlowski '07, of Reading, Massachusetts, presented the poster
"Characterization of carbonate environments in carbonate apatite." Kozlowski
spent the summer of 2006 at SUNY Stony Brook, as an REU (Research Experience
for Undergraduates) Fellow.
