Six outstanding St. Lawrence students have been selected as Summer Admissions Interns for 2012, with multiple opportunities to take part in the recruitment process for future students.

The interns were chosen from a competitive field of candidates who completed an extensive application process, including multi-stage interviews.

Summer 2012 admissions interns are:

- Kate Aseltine '13, (Central Bucks East High School)
of Doylestown, Penn., an English/gender and sexuality studies major. She's an admissions ambassador and a member of the Artists Guild.

- Benjamin Bills '13 (Naples Central School), of Naples, N.Y., a government and economics major. He studied in Vienna, Austria, in the spring 2012 semester and is a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the Hunting and Fishing Club.

- Matthew De Luca '13 (St. Joseph Catholic High School), of Ottawa, Ont., Canada, an economics major in the pre-management track. He is on the baseball team and is a student delegate to the Board of Trustees, and plans to participate in the New York City Semester in the fall.

- Noah Jenkins '13 (Colton-Pierrepont Central School), of Colton, N.Y., a philosophy major with minors in European studies and outdoor studies. He studied in Copenhagen, Denmark, in fall 2011 and is an admissions ambassador and Community Assistant.

- Robert John Montgomery '14 (St. Paul's School), of Parkton, Md., a mathematics and English major with a minor in chemistry. He is president of the student government organization and a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

- Samuel Rakoc '13 (Swampscott High School), of Swampscott, Mass., a mathematics and environmental studies major. He studied in Stockholm, Sweden, through the International Student Exchange Program in spring 2012, is on the cross country team and is a member of the Quantitative Club.

Interns' responsibilities include leading campus tours, making personal contacts with prospective students and undertaking a number of specific projects for the department, including online communications, data analysis, research and designing training programs for students who work in admissions during the academic year. The internship will incorporate a series of workshops on a variety of topics that have an impact upon the admissions, recruitment and selection processes, including the admissions calendar; event planning; ethics in admissions; publications and marketing; financial aid; transfer admission; international admission; interviews; and application review.
