Bob Cowser
Professor of English Bob Cowser has been selected to participate in National Endowment for the Humanitites (NEH) Summer Seminar for Faculty at SUNY Potsdam, on "Woody Guthrie and the American Folk Revival." The seminar takes place from June 5 through 28 and will be led by James Kimball, of SUNY Geneseo's music department.

Folksinger-songwriter-activist Guthrie was born 100 years ago and the seminar is one of a number of events around the world focusing on his life and legacy. In addition to readings about and recordings of Guthrie, the seminar will include examination of folk music in social movements and the continuing influence the artist has had on other writers, poets and musicians.

The summer seminar is offered for faculty of the Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley, providing opportunities to enrich their knowledge of the subjects that they teach and study by working with distinguished scholars, by studying with other teachers and scholars, and by undertaking individual projects of their own design. There are up to eight participants selected for each seminar.
