Cassidy Griffin '12, in Denmark
Cassidy Griffin '12, of Norwich, NY, received the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) Intercultural Leadership Award for the fall 2010 semester.
The DIS Intercultural Leadership Award is awarded to students who are committed to having a deeper intercultural experience within all three main aspects (academic, housing and other immersion activities) of their study abroad experience with DIS. In the fall 2010 semester, 18 out of approximately 800 students received the award.
A mathematics major, with minors in chemistry and biology, Griffin participated in the Medical Practice and Policy program; was the class representative for the core course; took Danish Language Instruction; lived with a host family and played on a Danish football (soccer) team. She wrote of her experience, "My general knowledge of life, how to take care of myself, and how to cope with traveling and the unknown has increased ten-fold over the last four months."
Griffin is a member of Kappa Delta Sigma sorority and a graduate of Norwich High School.
