Daniel F. Sullivan
St. Lawrence University President Emeritus Daniel F. Sullivan was awarded an honorary degree by SUNY Canton at its Commencement on May 22, 2010, recognizing his contributions to higher education and to the local community.
"We are recognizing Dr. Sullivan with an honorary degree to formally thank him for his lifelong commitment and relentless hard work for the people of the North Country," SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy said. "He's furthered opportunities for North Country students of all ages and has been a leader and promoter for business growth and economic development."
In his address to the graduates and their families, Sullivan said, "My advice to us all is to keep our eyes on our missions, no matter what the world brings us in the way of challenges," he said. "From where I sit, I see a SUNY Canton with a strategy of doing things right and doing the right things for students, the north country, and America. That makes me proud; it should make you proud also."
