Dawn Severenuk '90 is the winner of the 2008 Saab-Salomon
Women Will competition in Spain, and will be creating and
documenting the first cycle tourism route to cross Spain as a
Severenuk works as a journalist and travel writer in Madrid.
The Saab-Salomon Women Will contest is an international
initiative founded by Salomon Sports, aimed at women
throughout the world. Throughout the spring and summer
of 2007, women from all over the world sent in their
proposals. The proposals were evaluated by judges,
on behalf of the brand, and both the national and
international winners receive prizes that allow them to
carry out their dream adventures. Severenuk's project,
called "The Trans-Iberian Express Route," is a five-week
trip across the Iberian Peninsula.
She reports, "Between Easter Sunday and April 25 of this year,
I'll be leading a group of cycle tourists on a 1200-mile journey
through central Spain. We'll head through some of the most beautiful,
emblematic places in Spain, charting and documenting the trip; and
once it's done, we'll post a free, downloadable travel guide on the Internet.
