Krystyna Kornecki '12
Krystyna Kornecki '12, of Keeseville, NY, has received a scholarship award from the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) to assist with college education costs. The organization awards up to four such scholarships to undergraduates each year.

Kornecki is a geology major, and an Adirondack/North Country Scholar at St. Lawrence. She participated in the Adirondack Semester program and was awarded a University Fellowship in 2010. A graduate of AuSable Valley Central High School, Kornecki is conducting research for a senior honors thesis on the fossil snails of the 60-million-year-old Cannonball Formation in the Williston Basin of North Dakota, in order to better understand the effects of the great extinction that eliminated 75 percent of the Earth's organisms. As part of her scholarship award, Kornecki will write an article for publication in The Professional Geologist.
