Lalita Priyamvada '12
Lalita Priyamvada '12, of New Delhi, India, has been accepted into the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
A biology major with a minor in chemistry, she plans to engage in a research project the effects of ethanol on X. laevis (African clawed frog) immunity.
According to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, the program "is designed for students seriously considering graduate school or a career in biomedical research. Administered by the Interdisciplinary Biomedical Graduate Program, [it] provides an exceptional environment for students to gain research experience under the guidance of internationally recognized scientists."
Priyamvada is involved in a wide variety of campus organizations and activities; she is currently International House Coordinator and an Admissions Ambassador; and is a member of Beta Beta Beta, the biology honor society, and the leadership honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa.
