‘Make March Count’ Young Alumni Challenge Begins March 1
St. Lawrence University, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Skidmore College and Union College are in a friendly competition to see which institution has the most loyal young alumni graduates.
The Make March Count Challenge will take place March 1 through March 31. Alumni from the classes of 2003 through 2012 are encouraged to participate by making a gift of any size to support St. Lawrence.
The number of alumni who contribute to St. Lawrence each year is seen by many as an endorsement of the institution by those who know it best. Participation is one of the factors weighed each year by U.S. News and World Report when ranking colleges and universities. Prospective families view this number as one measure of the school’s reputation. Corporate and private foundations take into consideration the percentage of alumni who give back as they weigh their decisions to fund grants at the University.
Alumni who have already made a gift this fiscal year do not count. Only gifts made from March 1 to March 31 will count toward this challenge, and alumni who want to take part are encouraged to make an additional gift. Alumni who have pledged a certain amount for this fiscal year can be counted in the challenge by making their pledge payment in the month of March.
