Three students presented research papers at the 8th Annual North Georgia Student Philosophy Conference, held April 8 and 9 at Kennesaw State University. All are students of Associate Professor of Philosophy Erin McCarthy.

Nicole Carnevale '12, of Cranston, RI, presented a paper titled "True Love v. Mere Desire: A Reflection on Affective Concerns as Explained by Socrates and Plato." She is a government and philosophy major, with a minor in Asian Studies, and graduated from Cranston High School West.

Mandy Lafond '12, of Derry, NH, presented a paper titled "Approaching the Field of Nihility: A Critical Analysis of 'Nishitani After Nietzsche'." She is an environmental studies/philosophy major, and a graduate of Pinkerton Academy.

Sam Tyler '11, of Longmont, CO, presented a paper titled "Tanabe & Levinas: Building Socio-Ethical Responsibility Through Nothingness and Radical Alterity." A philosophy major, he is a graduate of the Watershed School.

The Philosophy Student Association, conference organizer, was formed "to foster the social, academic and professional growth of undergraduate students engaged in philosophy."
