Professor of Anthropology
Alice Pomponio recently gave a talk, titled "Informazione in pericolo: Una
lingua minacciata di morte nel Pacifico del Sud" (Information in Peril:
An Endangered Language in the South Pacific)," to graduate students in the
philosophy and social sciences department of the University of Siena, Italy.
The talk was part of her
Fulbright Foundation Senior Lectureship.
While the Fulbright grant states that lectures in the program are to
be given in English, faculty and students in the program requested that Pomponio
deliver the talk in Italian, and she complied with the request.
Pomponio is spending the 2007-2008 academic year in Siena through the grant,
conducting research, teaching and giving lectures.
