Groups of St. Lawrence University students, accompanied by staff, will be spending spring break 2007 helping others in two U.S. cities, Charleston, SC, and Philadelphia, PA.

Student volunteers from the campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity will be among the thousands of college students across the country participating in the organization's Collegiate Challenge. They will assist in building Habitat homes in an area of Charleston where families typically make from 25 to 50 percent of the median national income.

Collegiate Challenge 2007 volunteers are Adam Benson '08, Tovah Burstein '08, Brijlal Chaudhari '10, Matt Dalton '10, Sarah Friedman '09, Erica Guralnick '08, Quinn Laya '09, Ryan Moore '09, Kevin C. O'Connor '08, Beth Osman '09, Joe Pilato '08, Katie Spring '09 and Joey Webb '09, with Director of Dining Services Cindy Atkins and Anne Townsend, project director of the David Garner Center for Student Volunteerism.

Another group of student volunteers will be at the St. Francis Inn, a iving and working community in Philadelphia, to work in its soup kitchen, women's center and thrift shop.

St. Francis Inn volunteers are Michael Austen '07, Nazeema Baboolall '09, Robert Glover '07, Jonia Mendonca Guterres '10, Phuong Le '10, Rachel Lim '09, Harriet Newman '08 and Becky Rowe '10, with Brewer Bookstore Principal Clerk Joe Tebo and Sr. Bethany Fitzgerald, director of the Newman Center in Canton.
