Halley Choy ’17
Halley Choy ’17 of Saratoga Springs, New York, received a Ronald E. McNair Fellowship and worked with Peter Pettengill, assistant professor of environmental studies, on two projects: the first, titled “The Impacts of Recreating to the Great Barrier Reef,” which followed her semester abroad in Austrailia, and the second a campus trail assessment.

José Ormazábal ’17 of Chile worked with Barre Torres, director of musical ensembles, on a project, titled “Behind the Scenes: What Does It Take to Prepare a Recital.” He received the Daniel F. ’65 and Ann H. Sullivan Endowment for Student/Faculty Research.

Elizabeth Girard ’17 of Gouverneur, New York, received the Richard Carlson Career Services Internship Fellowship, which provided her with a salary to intern at Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, and a Tanner Fellowship, which was used in part to help spruce up a trail on the Hospice property.

Tanveer Kalo ’18 of Queens, New York, worked with Howard Eissenstat, associate professor of history, on a project, titled “Readings in Political Islam.” He received a Ronald E. McNair Fellowship.
Samantha Ormsby '17
Samantha Ormsby ’17 of Tupper Lake, New York, worked with Amy Hauber, associate professor of art and art history, on a project, titled “Symmetry in Mathematics and Art.” She received the Donald K. Rose University Fellows Endowment.
Samuel Foote ’18
Samuel Foote ’18 of Schroon Lake, New York, worked with Alexander Shreiber, associate professor of biology, on a project, titled “A Baseline Survey of Thymus Gland Morphology and Histology in Postmetamorphic Xenopus Laevis Froglets.” He received a Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) Fellowship.

Victoria Peabody ’17 of Ogdensburg, New York, was a SLU PIC Fellow, working with Renewal House in Canton. The St. Lawrence University Public Interest Corps provides 10-week internships to intern at selected students with local service organizations.
