The St. Lawrence Blog
Who is St. Lawrence University? We are a group of people with countless adventures and even more stories. The St. Lawrence Blog gives our students, faculty and staff the chance to tell their tales, in their own words and in their own way. Sharing these anecdotes in one place gives our community the chance to show how creative, daring and passionate we are about what we do. Alone, these stories are powerful; together they define St. Lawrence.

I will never forget the first time I visited St. Lawrence. It was early fall, when the tall oak and pine trees rustle with the light breeze and the purple flowers billow beneath the chapel. Everyone fit in so well that the students became part of the landscape.
I can still remember sitting in my Spanish class the spring of my sophomore year, unable to focus because I was so excited to submit my application to spend a semester abroad in Spain.

From the moment I arrived on campus, I knew St. Lawrence was the school for me. From its stunning buildings to the friendly people, SLU had taken my breath away. Now a junior, I’m a chemistry major and an Admissions Ambassador.
As the end of my first semester of senior year quickly approaches, I have begun to reflect more on my time here at SLU and all the special people and experiences that have enriched my life.
TV shows like Bones, House, and Grey’s Anatomy make everyone want to work in science or medicine and I’m convinced those shows make me want to want to be a doctor. Not only this, but STEM majors appear at the top of every “best majors” list.
A portable hammock might not be the first item you think to put on your college packing list, but here at St. Lawrence University, it's a must.
Throughout my entire life, there have always been changes whether I was moving cities or switching schools. One thing that always was a constant was playing squash. Ever since I could walk, I had a squash racket in my hand. It was, and still is, one of my absolute favorite things to do.
When you ask students here why they chose to St. Lawrence, the most common answer is, “It just felt right.” So many students are drawn to SLU for the people, the community, and the feeling that you get when you walk around campus. If you take the time to come up to St.
My favorite Trail Mix ingredients: Chocolate-covered almonds, craisins, a baby elephant, M&Ms, 5 o'clock chapel bells, a green bike, Payson and the people inside, hiking boots, Herring-Cole, a squash team, honey-nut cheerios, incredible professors, skis, Sergi's (Bob's only), a lifetime of Laure
I remember the very first time I packed up my bags and ventured on a solo trip abroad. I had no idea where I was headed or what it was going to be like, but I knew I had to do it.
While I was in the process of applying for college, I had a few concerns about St. Lawrence University. Since my parents both attended SLU, I grew up in a house where St. Lawrence was mentioned frequently.
