During my enriching time at St. Lawrence, I have had the chance to travel abroad on the Francophone Studies program in the Spring 2009 semester. Living in the three cultures of Quebec, France, and Senegal broadened my view of the world and reinforced my appreciation for diversity. In my early years at St. Lawrence, I participated in the Investment Club on campus and learned from older Economics students the importance of internships to gain experience. In January of my junior year,I interned with an insurance agency in Clayton, NY and in the summer of that same year I interned with the underwriting department of Peerless Insurance, a division of Liberty Mutual, in Syracuse, NY. Also while a junior, I worked as a Community Assistant, which further developed my leadership skills in preparation for a management role after completing the 4+1 M.B.A. program.
As a 4+1 student my classes focus on relevant topics in management, which will aid me in my work study job as a manager at Calling All Saints, and as a Residence Life Townhouse Manager during my senior year. Participation in the 4+1 program requires planning and time management in order to take the necessary classes. However, I have always found room in my schedule to take advantage of the many other opportunities offered at St. Lawrence.
