St. Lawrence University Public Interest Corps (SLU PIC)
The mission of the St. Lawrence University Public Interest Corps (SLU PIC) is to link talented and passionate St. Lawrence University students and recent graduates with North Country public interest and non-profit organizations to improve their ability to provide services to their constituencies and to help develop the next generation of leaders in this sector.
Coordinated by St. Lawrence University Center for Career Excellence and Student Activities & Leadership Offices, this program supports organizations and positively influences relationships between the college and the community. SLU PIC, which also involves St. Lawrence University nonprofit sector alumni in an advisory capacity, provides a tangible mechanism for Corps Members to put academic theory into practice and gain valuable professional skills, knowledge, and contacts while contributing to the mission of North Country nonprofits.
All SLU students and class years (including graduating seniors) are eligible to apply. Internship descriptions and applications will be available on Handshake in December 2023/January 2024. Please read the project descriptions carefully when considering which project(s) fit your interest and experience best. The student application deadline is 11:55 pm, FEBRUARY 21, 2024.

Educational material will be crucial to provide an understanding of the importance of St. Lawrence County's local food. The information gathered in just this period of time will be used for many years to outreach and inform consumers and support the local food system in St. Lawrence County.
Helping Hands of Potsdam
Helping Hands of Potsdam, Inc. is a faith-based non-profit organization serving Potsdam, New York and the outlying area. It was founded in 2003 and is entirely supported by the kindness and generosity of local churches, individuals, organizations, and businesses.
We serve local families through our food pantry and lunch program, provide for the distribution of used furniture and housewares, and offer assistance with fuel, rent, and utility payments in crisis situations. In this way we are able to help those who cannot afford to heat their homes, provide nutritious meals for their families, or who perhaps just need the spiritual support we can offer. Helping Hands is staffed by a group of volunteers under the leadership of our executive director and a governing board consisting of pastors and lay people from numerous local churches. We serve the people of Eastern St. Lawrence County including Brasher, Colton, Hopkinton, Lawrence, Madrid, Nicholville, Norfolk, Norwood, Parishville, Pierrepont, Potsdam, Stockholm, and South Colton.
