Olaus "Ollie" Audet '50
An Army veteran who served in the South Pacific, Ollie Audet starred in both football and baseball as a St. Lawrence undergraduate and went on to an outstanding career in coaching and athletic administration following his graduation.
The winner of 16 athletic letters at Tupper Lake High School, Ollie’s college career was delayed by his service in the Army and came to St. Lawrence on the G.I. Bill. He earned a starting spot as an end on the football team and capped an outstanding career when he captained the 1949 team which started a St. Lawrence record 18-game win streak. He also starred in baseball in the spring. He was also an officer in the L Club as a junior and senior.
Following ten years in the retail business, Ollie returned to St. Lawrence, earning another bachelor’s degree and his master’s in education. He then embarked on a teaching and coaching career which included three years at Madrid-Waddington and 21 in Canton where he coached football, basketball and baseball. He went on to become athletic director at Canton and is a member of both the Madrid-Waddington and Canton Athletic Halls of Fame.
