Denise Regan Sullivan '82
One of the pathfinders for both the women’s soccer and women’s ice hockey teams as they made the transition from club status to the varsity level in the late 1970s, Denise Regan Sullivan captained the soccer team as a senior and was one of the leading scorers on the women’s hockey team.
The assistant captain of the women’s hockey team, she had two goals including the game winner in a vicgtory over Clarkson to open a memorable week in her senior year in which she also had a hat trick against Oswego and a goal at Vermont as she led the team to a 9-7-1 record. She also led the team in scoring in a 9-9 junior season, was the top goal scorer for the 13-3-1 1979-80 team and has six goals in a 3-7-1 season in 1978-79. She led the women’s hockey team to the first New York State Invitational Tournament championship in 1982 and had five career hat tricks.
She was also a consistent goal scorer in soccer and had a team-leading seven goals and one assist in the first varsity season in 1980. She was captain and leading scorer in 1981 as the team went 5-9.
In addition to her athletic exploits, Denise was a consistent Dean’s List student and a Presidential Scholar.
