As an undergraduate Susan (Amlie) Barber participated in the figure skating club, one of the few athletic activities then available to women. In 1957 she organized a precision figure skating team…the Larriettes…which performed during intermissions of hockey games.
She is now a physical education teacher and teaches figure skating at Bowling Green State Univeristy. She founded the figure skating club at that school and is a member of the Bowling Green Hall of Fame.
In 1984 Barber organized the first, “International Stars on Ice” a promotional show for charitable causes at Bowling Green. It was seen on ABC Wide World of Sports that year as Scott Hamilton made his final amateur appearance before winning Olympic and World titles.
