Hayward H. Plumadore '40
One of two outstanding intercollegiate wrestlers in the class of 1940, Hayward “Pinky” Plumadore was a star in both wrestling and football for St. Lawrence.
He shattered the record for fastest pin with a fall in just 22 seconds, and was the owner of a 29-2 individual record in wrestling. He was co-captain of the team in his senior year and participated in the National Intercollegiate Wrestling tournament for three straight years. He and fellow 1988 inductee Stan Koloski accounted for 193 points in their three years of varsity competition and aided the tem in compiling a three-year record of 20-3-1 including a 7-0 record in their sophomore year and a 6-1-1 record as seniors.
Following service in World War II during which he was wounded in the invasion of Sicily , Plumadore served in the New York State Legislature and was chairman of a committee which cleaned up the sport of boxing in New York State .
