Lawrence G. "Pie" Traynor '40

A three sport standout for the Saints in football, hockey, and baseball prior to his graduation in 1940, Captain Traynor distinguished himself as a dive bomber pilot for the U.S. Navy in World War II and was the first St. Lawrence graduate to be decorated in the war. He won the Navy Cross for heroism during the Battle of the Coral Sea and later earned the Distinguished Service Cross.
