The most successful coach in St. Lawrence University history at the time of his retirement from SLU athletics, George Menard led the Saints to some of their most successful years in both hockey and baseball.

He coached hockey from 1955-67 and 1968-71, compiling an overall record of 204-127-14 and leading the Saints to the first ECAC Championship and five appearances in the NCAA final four.

In baseball, he compiled a record for 101-96 for a 15-year, two-sport total of 305-223-14, a win total unmatched by any other St. Lawrence coach at the time of his retirement.
