Novice 8+ Impresses in Season Debut

Oct. 8: The St. Lawrence University men's crew team opened the fall portion of its 2012-13 season on Saturday at the Bridge-to-Bridge Head Race in Rome, NY. The Saints Novice 8+ had an outstanding race, finishing second overall ahead of Hamilton's varsity boat.
The St. Lawrence Novice 8+ was stroked by Travis Galowski, while Lauren Ward was coxswain. Other members of the boat, which finished the 6.6km course in 23:32.3 behind only Colgate's varisty boat, include Chester Hojnicki, Mike Lynskey, Dan Tobin, Ryder Thompson, Jack Riordan, Steve Grow and Sam Pratt.
The Saints' varsity boat was fourth overall in 24:13.1. That boat was comprised of coxswain Shelby Hang, Phil Hodosy, Talon Lomahquahu, Drew Twitchell, Mike Brewer, Tom Joyce, Tad Sipe, Evan Pierce and eight seat Andy Caswell.
In the men's fours, the St. Lawrence Novice "A" boat was fifth overall and won the novice division in 26:50.5 and included Mark Persij, Justin Dalaba, Hojnicki, Galowski, and Pratt. The varsity four of Francis Stripp, George Alberts, Hodosy, Caswell and Ward was seventh, followed by the Novice "B" boat of Brandon Di Perno, Will McGowan, Arben Ukperaj, Pierce and Lynskeyy. Colgate's varsity won the men's fours race in 24:44.9.
The Saints are scheduled to compete against on Saturday, October 13 at the Head of the Genessee in Rochester, NY.
