Saints Compete at Head of the Genesee

Oct. 16: The St. Lawrence University men's crew team competed at the 2012 Head of the Genesee this weekend in Rochester, NY.

The Saints' varsity 8+ was 13th in its race out of 23 teams with a time of 17:47.64, which included a victory over Hamilton after losing to the Continentals last weekend. The boat was comprised of coxswain Shelby Hang, Phil Hodosy, Talon Lomahquahu, Drew Twitchell, Mike Brewer, Tom Joyce, Tad Sipe, Evan Pierce and eight seat Andy Caswell.

The novice 8+ raced in a time of 17:18.34 to earn third place in its race behind Bucknell University and Hobart College. The St. Lawrence Novice 8+ was stroked by Travis Galowski, while Lauren Ward was coxswain. Other members of the boat include Chester Hojnicki, Mike Lynskey, Dan Tobin, Ryder Thompson, Jack Riordan, Steve Grow and Sam Pratt.

"The varsity boat put together a better piece this weekend, while the novice boat had a disappointing row after a good week of practice," said St. Lawrence head coach George Repicky. "They'll get another chance at it at the Head of the Fish in two weeks."

The St. Lawrence varsity will compete again this Sunday at the 2012 Head of the Charles Regatta.
