Joe Marsh Tribute Video Now on Line
Nov. 26: A video commemorating the career of former Saint hockey coach Joe Marsh is now on line and available for viewing via the St. Lawrence University men's hockey web page.
The video, "A Lasting Legacy" was produced by the video department of the Pittsburgh Penguins and former players Pete McGeough and Ray Shero and former manager Scott Lasky. Narrated by Tom Brokaw, its initial showing was part of a tribute to Coach Marsh held in November.
The head coach of the Saints from 1986 through 2011, Marsh took a medical leave in the 2011-12 season and announced his retirement in March of 2012. The seventh coach since 1951 to win multiple Spencer Penrose Awards as NCAA Division I Coach of the Year and ECAC Coach of the Year a record four times, he won five ECAC championships, took teams to eight NCAA tournaments and made two Frozen Four appearances. He coached 18 All America players, seven Hobey Baker finalists, six ECAC Player of the Year Award winners, four ECAC Rookies of the Year, five ECAC Outstanding Defensive Forward award winners and five ECAC Outstanding Defensive Defenseman award winners.
