    A former quarterback on the St. Lawrence University football team and a midfielder on the lacrosse squad, Mike Mahoney took over the head coaching duties for men's lacrosse in the fall of 1997. Under Mahoney, the Saints experienced immediate success and have continued to excel, winning ECAC Upstate Championships in 2001 and 2002 as well as Liberty League titles in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. He enters the season as the 10th winningest active head coach in Division III.

    Entering the 2013 campaign, Mahoney has posted a 156-71 (.687) record in the past 15 seasons, with 12 of those teams earning post-season bids. Mahoney coached his team to the NCAA Tournament's Second Round four straight seasons ('06-'09) after winning the Liberty League Tournament. With his team on a 32-game winning streak in the Liberty League, Mahoney was named the conference's "Coach of the Year" in 2009 for the second time (2004), and he earned that distinction again in 2012 after his team finished 12-2 in the regular season.

    Kyle Benton, a 2009 graduate of St. Lawrence University, returned to his alma mater as the assistant men's lacrosse coach in the summer of 2011.

    During Benton's time playing for Coach Mahoney, the Scarlet and Brown went to four straight NCAA Tournaments. He earned Liberty League All-Academic honors three straight years while majoring in philosophy.

    Following his graduation, Kyle served as an assistant coach for the men's lacrosse program at Widener University.

    John Galassi, a graduate of Lafayette College, joined the men's lacrosse coaching staff in the summer of 2011.

    Galassi earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 2009 from Lafayette, where he played on the men's lacrosse team. In 51 career games with the Leopards, John had 49 goals and 14 assists for 63 points.

    Prior to coming to St. Lawrence, Galassi worked as the assistant head coach of the men's lacrosse team at Riverdale Country School in Bronx, NY.

    Dr. Alan Draper will serve as a Faculty/Staff Mentor for the men's lacrosse team in 2010-2011.

    Education History:
    B.A. - University of Wisconsin
    Ph.D. - Columbia University

    Dr. Draper, a professor in the Goverment department at St. Lawrence University, has based his research on the Civil Rights movement, Southern labor history and both Unions and politics.

    He regularly teaches classes such as Introduction to American Politics, Comparative Politics, Working Class Politics and Politics of Western Democracies.

    Cummings Professor of Mathematics Patti Lock will serve as the men's lacrosse team's Faculty/Staff Mentor for the 2012-13 season.

    A professor at SLU for 25 years, Lock keeps her passion for teaching."Mathematics education is my passion; my interest in graph theory [her principal area of research] takes a back seat to my work in teaching," Lock says.

    The co-author and project director of the top-selling pre-calculus book and the second-most popular calculus text in the nation, Lock says that she's learned from the books as well."These books have changed the way calculus is taught. Working on texts while teaching the classes for which they are written keeps my life interesting. I'm always asking myself: ‘How can I teach this better?'," she says. "I always enjoy the challenge of helping my students understand and appreciate mathematics."
