Jan. 13: The fourth-ranked Cornell University men's squash team used wins at No. 2 through No. 7 to defeat St. Lawrence University on Sunday afternoon in Ithaca, NY. The Big Red improved to 7-1 on the season, while the Saints lost their fourth straight to move to 3-4.
The Saints were led by first-year student Amr Khaled Khalifa, who made his debut in a Saints' uniform. The Cairo, Egypt native swept Cornell's Nicholas Sachvie at No. 1 by the scores of 11-3, 11-4 and 19-17.
Also earning sweeps for the Saints were sophomore Duncan Maxwell at No. 8 and first-year student Tim Lasusa at No. 9. Maxwell defeated Matthew Shang by the scores of 11-7, 11-6 and 11-8, while Lasusa topped Geoffrey Keating, 11-7, 12-10, and 11-3. Senior Amay Merchant earned an exhibition win about George Clarke, 11-6, 11-6 and 12-10.
