Patterson Earns Athlete of the Meet Honors, Saints 2nd at Liberty League, Ranked 15th Nationally

Feb. 9: Freshman Spencer Patterson earned the outstanding track performer award as the St. Lawrence University men's indoor track and field team finished second in the 2013 Liberty League indoor championship held at RIT on Saturday night.
Patterson won the mile in 4:17.29 and the 800 in 1:58.84 for an impressive double and had two of SLU's five individual championships in the meet. Host RIT won the meet with 209 points with the Saints second with 136, RPI third with 115 and Union fourth with 27. The Saints are currently ranked 15th nationall in the NCAA Division III indoor track and field dual meet rankings heading into the Denault Invitational.
Joining Patterson as event champions were Jake Fredericks, who won the 60 hurdles in 8.28 seconds, a Liberty League and SLU record, Andy Fisher, who won the 200 in 23.22 and Nick Crawford, who won the 400 in 50.79 seconds.
Fisher joined Adrian Wilson and Omaru and Alimamy Kabia on the second place 4x200 relay which ran 1:33.12 while Crawford joined Leif Frymire, Fredericks and Vince Maniscalco on the third place 4x400 relay.
Maniscalco added a third and Frymire was fifth in the 200 while Omaru Kabia was second and Fisher third in the 60 meter dash. Zach Nelson scored with a sixth in the mile and the Saint distance medley relay team of Corye Hahnl, Brett Smith, Albert Scardera and Landon Elliott-Knaggs finished second.
In the field events, Jamal Samaroo was second in the triple jump with Maniscalco fifth and Brian Kane sixth, A.J. Blaisdell was second in the weight throw at 15.19 meters, Mike Scott was third and Kane fourth in the high jump, Chris Payton was fourth and Wilson sixth in the long jump and Scott Kasson was fifth in the shot put.
Omaru Kabia, Crawford, Patterson in the mile, Fredericks and the 4x200 relay surpassed ECAC qualifying marks in the meet while Scott, Kane and Samaroo met ECAC marks in the field events.
