Fisher, Patterson Win Individual Titles at Cornell

Feb. 16: Andy Fisher won the 300 meters and Spencer Patterson led from start to finish to win the mile as the St. Lawrence University men's indoor track and field team warmed up for the upcoming New York State Collegiate Track and Field Conference indoor championships with a solid showing at the Denault Invitational at Cornell on Saturday.
Fisher ran 36.52 to capture the individual title in the 300 meters while Patterson ran 4:15.88 to win the mile with teammate Wesley Kirui finishing 10th.
Leif Frymire met ECAC qualifying standards with a 1:07.97 clocking in the 500, finishing sixth while Scott Smolensky also meet the ECAC minimum with a 8:46.44 time in the 3000, finishing fourth. Other top track finishes for the Saints included a seventh in the 1000 by Jon Eng in 2:34.94, a 10th by Cory Hahnl in the 1000 in 2:37.60. Jake Fredericks was third in the 60 hurdles in 8.43 seconds while the Saint 4x400 team ran 3:27.32 meeting the ECAC mark and the 4x800 team ran 8:09.24. Both relay teams finished third.
In the field events, Mike Scott had the top performance with a third place in the high jump at 1.94 meters. Scott Kasson was sixth in the shot at 13.94 meters and A.J. Blaisdell met the ECAC qualifying standard and was sixth in the weight throw at 15.67 meters.
