Moffitt Sets Another Record, Men's 800 Free Relay 11th at States

Jason Dutra scored in the 100 back and anchored the 800 free relay Friday

Feb. 22: Sammi Moffitt set her second St. Lawrence University record in three days and the Saint women's swim team maintained its hold on eighth place in the 2013 Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championships at Ithaca College on Friday.

Moffitt finished fourth in the "B" final and 12th overall in 1:00.60, trimming .05 off the previous mark set a year ago by teammate Casey Abribat. Moffitt's race was one of three "B" final finishes for the Saints on day three of the four-day meet. Carly Berizzi was fifth in the "B" final and 13th overall in the 200 fly in 2:15.43 and Elizabeth Canne was seventh in the "B" final in the 100 breast and 15th overall in 1:10.97.


Staci Czaja won the "C" final and was 17th overall in the 100 breast in 1:10.03. Katharine Weidhausser added a second in the "C" final and was 18th overall in the 200 fly in 2:18.46, Molly Snedden was sixth in the "C" final and 22nd overall in the 100 back in 1:04.01.


The Saint 800 free relay team of Canne, Abribat, Nicole Leinders and Caroline Winslow finished 11th in 8:13.24 while a "B" realy of Molly Spakowski, Weidhausser, Caitlin Wiederecht and Olivia Rettstatt was 25th in 8:26.98.


For the Saint men, Jason Dutra finished seventh in the "C" final and 22nd overall in the 100 back in 55.09 and the 800 relay team of Alex Root, Luke Peleggi, Grant Reeder and Dutra was 11th in 7:22.95.


The Saint women are eighth in the 15-team filed with 345.5 points while the men are 13th with 138 points going into Saturday's final day of competition.
