Another Record for Moffitt, Makes NCAA "B" Time

Feb. 23: Sophomore Sammi Moffitt improved her own record and made the NCAA "B" cut with a fifth place finish in the 200 backstroke to highlight the final day of competition for the St. Lawrence women's swim team at the Upper New York State Collegiate Swim Championships at Ithaca on Saturday.
Moffitt's finish was the best of the meet for the Saints and helped the SLU women to an eighth place finish with 469.5 points in a 15-team field. The Saint men moved up the standings on Saturday and finished 12th with a total of 201 points.
Moffitt swam 2:06.91 to trim her own record in the 200 back while senior teammate Casey Abribat finished seventh in the "B" final and was 15th overall with a 2:13.20 clocking. Moffitt was also part of the Saint 400 free relay tem which was second in the B final and 10th overall with a time of 3:42.71. She joined Nicole Leinders, Carly Berizzi and Alana Blackburn on the relay team.
Olivia Rettstatt finished ninth in the 1650 in 18:10.33 while Caitlin Wiederecht was 25th. Blackburn finished sixth in the "B" final and 15th overall in the 100 free in 54.80 while Elizabeth Canne was 5th in the "B" final and 13th in the 200 breast in 2:31.85 with Zinnia Smith second in the "C" final and 18th overall in 2:33.74.
For the Saint men, Alex Root finished 15th in the 1650 free in 17:23.76 while Jason Dutra was sixth in the "C" final in the 200 back in 2:00.06. The 400 free relay team of Luke Peleggi, Matt Bauer, Ryan Karklin and Dutra was 5th in the "B" final and 13th overall in 3:29.29.
