  • Head Volleyball Coach

    Shelly Roiger was named the head coach of the St. Lawrence University volleyball team in the spring of 2010 after serving as a volunteer assistant coach in 2009.  She enters the 2012 season with a 45-27 record after leading the Saints to back-to-back trips to the Liberty League tournament, including the program's first-ever championship title in 2010. 

    From 2005-2008, Roiger served as the Head Volleyball Coach at Northland College in northern Wisconsin where she took a volleyball program that had won a total of 10 matches in the three seasons prior to her arrival and turned them into conference tournament champions in just her third season there.

    Melissa Anderson, a former volleyball standout at Northland College in Ashland, WI, joined the St. Lawrence University athletic staff in the fall of 2011 as the assistant coach of the volleyball program.  She also served as the assistant softball coach in the spring of 2012.   

    During her four-year career with the LumberJills, Anderson garnered a host of awards and accomplishments, including being named to the All-UMAC First Team in 2006 and 2009 (Honorable Mention, 2007, 2008).   A three-year captain, she helped guide her team to a 2007 UMAC Tournament championship.  The Brooklyn Park, MN native surpassed the 1000th kill and 1000th dig marks as a junior and finished her career with 1, 278 and 1, 548, respectively. 

    A 2010 graduate, Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with minors in social studies and psychology.  She returned to her alma mater after graduating to serve as the assistant volleyball coach, while also working as a second grade teacher in the Washburn school district.  From February to June, she served as the interim head coach of the LumberJills.   

  • Volleyball Faculty/Staff Mentor

    John Pezdek, a former St. Lawrence University Assistant Golf Coach, will continue to serve as the Faculty/Staff Mentor to the 2012-13 Saints volleyball team.

    A 2003 graduate of St. Lawrence, John joined the Office of University Advancement in the fall of 2009 and became Associate Director of Major Gifts in August 2011. In his current role, he develops relationships with alumni, parents and friends and works to match their philanthropic goals and interests to the initiatives that complement the mission of St. Lawrence.

    As a student John was a 4 year member of the golf team, where he earned All-America honors in his junior season. Serving as a Thelomathesian Society Senator, he was also a member of the Student Judicial Board and Omicron Delta Epsilon (Economics Honorary).

    Active on campus and in the Canton community John currently serves on the University's Philanthropy Task Force and is member of the St. Lawrence Golf Club Board of Governors.
