MacDonald Named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week

Jan. 9: St. Lawrence University sophomore goalie Carmen MacDonald has been named ECAC Hockey's Goaltender of the Week for her play against nationally-ranked No. 9 Northeastern and No. 5 Boston College.
MacDonald posted her first shutout of the season against the Huskies in an impressive 6-0 win at Appleton Arena. The Pictou, NS native added a season-high 36 saves, including 12 in the third period, against Boston College the following day.
"Carmen really saw the puck well throughout the two games and battled for rebounds that both Northeastern and Boston College had," said St. Lawrence head coach Chris Wells. "Last weekend was a solid start for both her and our team."
Joining MacDonald in the league's weekly honors were Harvard's Jillian Dempsey and Dartmouth's Ailish Forfar. Dempsey extended her career-long point streak to 27 games with a five-point outing at Union and an assist against Rensselaer to earn Player of the Week. Forfar was tabbed the conference's Rookie of the Week after a three-goal weekend, the first tallies of her collegiate career for the Big Green.
St. Lawrence will play its first ECAC Hockey games of 2013 this weekend when they travel to Yale and Brown on Friday and Saturday, January 11 and 12. The Saints currently stand in fifth place in the league with a 6-2-0 record.
