Saints Top Toronto 6-3 in Season Opener

Oct. 21: The St. Lawrence University women's squash team opened the 2012-13 season with a 6-3 victory over the University of Toronto on Sunday afternoon at the Robie Squash Courts.
Sophomore Brigitte Tousignant was a 3-0 winner at one as she beat Jen Klein 11-7, 11-7, 11-6. At two, senior Frances Robinson came out victorious in five games, winning 3-2 over Mabel Low (8-11, 11-6, 5-11, 11-7, 11-8).
Toronto's Diana Wong earned a 3-0 win over first-year student Val Quan at three, but junior Brittany Coxe, first-year student Sarah Neilson and senior Corey McHugh won at four through six for the Saints. Coxe defeated Alexis Twiddy in five games (12-10, 1-11, 11-1, 7-11, 11-8), and Neilson topped Grace Lui in four games (9-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-6). McHugh swept Sarah Teixeira by the scores of 11-7, 12-10, 11-2.
Junior Liz Levering rounded out the scoring for the Saints with a sweep of Liz Wong 11-3, 11-7, 11-3 at nine. Toronto's Jessie Khalife and Kelly Murphy posted wins at seven and eight, defeating junior Carolyn Fisher 3-1 (11-3, 11-7, 7-11, 11-7) and first-year student Catherine Sanderson 3-0 (12-10, 11-8, 11-2), respectively.
The Saints will be back in action on Nov. 17 in Poughkeepsie, NY when the team faces Vassar, Bard and William Smith.
