Nov. 6: The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team has earned the No. 15 ranking in the Division III Northeast Regional rankings, the highest in program history, after an impressive fall season.

"The ladies competed well this fall, especially in our lone dual match," said St. Lawrence head coach Jeremy Freeman.  "It is nice to be recognized as 15th in the region to start the year.  We are looking forward to the regular season and hope to improve upon that mark."

The Saints reached the No. 15 spot having put together a solid resume in the first half of the season.  Sophomore Elkie Vandenbeemt and rookie Morgan McNeal combined for 11 singles wins during the fall, including victories against top players from Geneseo, RIT, Hamilton and Vassar.  St. Lawrence earned a 6-3 win over Hamilton College out of the NESCAC, and advanced to the semifinals in five of the nine draws at the 2012 New York State Tournament.

Sophomore Samantha Miller and first-year Suzanne Weinstein showcased St. Lawrence's depth at the Mary Hosking Invitational at William Smith, as the duo won the "B" Doubles Championship.  Miller and Weinstein took out two teams from the hosting Herons as well as duos from Rochester and Nazareth en route to the title.

The Saints will have several weeks off before beginning to train for the spring season, which gets underway on March 2, 2013 at Ithaca College.
