Saints Capture 8-Team Indoor Invitational

Jan. 19: Carly Stine won the 500 meters and led off the winning 4x400 relay team, Ella Martin set the St. Lawrence record in the 3000 and Divya Biswall won the triple jump and was second in the long jump as the Saint women's indoor track and field team topped an eight-team field in the 2013 St. Lawrence Indoor Invitational at the Newell Field House on Saturday.

The Saints finished with 176 points with the University of Ottaw second with 137, Plattsburgh third with 66.5, followed by Utica 63.6, Hamilton with 60, Oswego with 52, Mohawk Valley CC with 20 and the Royal Military Academy with 4. Individuals from the Ottawa Lions, the Cirrus Track Club and the Renfrew Track Club also competed in the meet.


Stine won the 500 in 1:20.10 and joined Cassia Hameline, Marissa Rescott and Jess Marini in winning the 4x400 in 4:09.80. Martin beat Wendy Pavlus' record in the 3000, running 10.06.25 and leading a Saint sweep of the top four places in the race and Biswall won the triple jump with a 11.31 meter series and was second in the long jump at 5.04 meters.

Kristen Linder and Eliza Bell were the other Saint winners on Saturday, Linder throwing 11.22 meters in the shot and adding a third in the weight throw and Bell winning the high jump at 1.53 meters and finishing third in the triple jump.

Caroline Raue was second, Lizzy Edwards third and Ariel Beccia fourth in the 3000, Marini scored second in the 400 in 60.49 seconds, Hannah Kinsey scored second in the 200 in27:16 and third in the 60 in 8.26 with Chinelo Asanya fourth. Rescott scored third in the pole vault. Marissa Turner was third in the high jump.

The Saint 4x200 relay team of Asanya, Anna Pond, Jaleigh Pier and Kinsey was second in 1:50.90.
