Biswal Sets Record, Saints Win Springfield Invitational

Jan. 26: Divya Biswal set the St. Lawrence University women's indoor track and field record in the triple jump and was one of four individual champions for the Saints as they won the 12-team Springfield College Indoor Invitational in Springfield on Saturday.

The Saints finished with 113 points to outdistance second place Springfield, which had 82 points and Amherst which was third with 68.5 to lead the field.

Biswal jumped 11.60 meters to improve the Saint record by .04 of a meter in winning the triple jump. She also scored with a fifth place finish in the 60 hurdles. Joining Biswal on the winner's podium was sophomore Eliza Bell, who won the high jump at 1.63 meters, senior Jessica Marini, who was champion in the 600 in 1:39.43 and first year Ella Martin, who led a 28-point showing for the Saints in the 5000.

Martin won the 5000 in 17:38.21 with Caroline Raue second, Ariel Beccia third and Lizzie Edwards fourth. Martin also ran on the winning 4x800 relay team which included Kelsey Leder, Raue and Edwards which ran 10:01.66.

Hannah Kinsey was third in the 200 and sixth in the 60 in addition to anchoring the 4x200 relay, which finished third in 1:50.67. She was joined by Chinelo Asanya, Anna Pond and Jaleigh Pier on the relay. The Saint 4x400 relay team of Carly Stine, Cassia Hameline, Marissa Turner and Marini was second in 4:11.82.

Stine added a second in the 400 in 1:01.79 while Taylor Washington was third in the pole vault, Jessica Tyree third in the weight throw and Kristen Linder was fifth in the shot put.
