Plimpton Earns Second Team All-Region Honors

May 10: St. Lawrence University sophomore pitcher Kyle Plimpton has earned Northeast All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Plimpton, the Liberty League Pitcher of the Year, earned Second Team honors, becoming the fifth St. Lawrence player to earn All-Region status and the first since Heather Tuttle in 2005.

Yellowjackets Edge Saints in 8 Inning Heartbreaker

May 4:  The University of Rochester strung together three bunts, the last one a squeeze play, to score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning for a 3-2 win over St. Lawrence University in the Liberty League softball championships at Southside Field.

Engineers Edge Saints 1-0 in Liberty League Tournament

May 3:  Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute edged the St. Lawrence University softball team, 1-0, in a Liberty League Tournament game at the University of Rochester.  Kristina Weltzin threw a complete game, three-hit shutout and knocked in the game's only run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning to lead the Engineers to the victory. 

Plimpton Pitcher of the Year; Seven Saints Earn All-Conference Honors

May 2:  Sophomore pitcher Kyle Plimpton was named the 2013 Liberty League Pitcher of the Year and seven Saints earned All-Conference honors as announced by the league on Thursday.  Plimpton was a unanimous First Team selection and was joined by junior designated player Natasha Bell.  Senior Elizabeth McGinley and junior Leslie Stratton were both named to the Second Team infield, while senior Chelsea Cavellier, junior Rebecca Allen and sophomore Aisha O'Connor were honorable mention selections.

Saints Set Single-Season Victory Record with Sweep of Hamilton

May 1:  The St. Lawrence University softball team established a new program record for victories in a season with a doubleheader sweep of Hamilton College in Clinton, NY on Wednesday.  The Saints, who won by the scores of 8-3 and 5-4, improve to 21-15 on the season and will use the victories as momentum heading into the 2013 Liberty League tournament in Rochester, NY this weekend.  

Stefanon, Regionally-Ranked #2 Cardinals Outlast Saints

April 28:  The St. Lawrence University softball team nearly ended regionally-ranked #2 St. John Fisher's 10-game winning streak on Sunday afternoon, but dominating pitching performances by Cardinal senior pitcher Sarah Stefanon helped the visitors extend their streak to 12 with a two-game sweep of the Saints.

Saints Earn Sweep on "Senior Day"

April 27:  The St. Lawrence University softball team defeated SUNY Canton by the scores of 9-0 (5) and 10-2 (6) on Saturday afternoon, earning the doubleheader sweep on "Senior Day".  The Saints, who combined for 28 hits on the day, improve to 19-13 on the season and will host St. John Fisher tomorrow afternoon in the final home doubleheader for the Saints' three members of the class of 2013, Chelsea Cavellier, Liz McGinley and Lauren Weisbarth. 

Saints Down ‘Roos, 12-0

April 26:  The St. Lawrence University softball team recorded 16 hits, five of which were for extra bases, en route to a 12-0 victory over SUNY Canton on Friday evening.  The Saints, led by senior pitcher Elizabeth McGinley's one-hit performance on the mound, improves to 17-13 on the season, while the Kangaroos fall to 13-20 overall.  St. Lawrence will host SUNY Canton in a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon as the Saints celebrate "Senior Day".  

Saints Split with Regionally-Ranked #3 Elmira

April 23:  Senior Chelsea Cavellier's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh gave the St. Lawrence University softball team a 2-1 victory over regionally-ranked #3 Elmira College in game one of Tuesday's doubleheader.  The Soaring Eagles (19-9) rebounded to take the nightcap by the score of 6-0 behind a solid pitching performance from senior Katie Hobson.  The Saints, led offensively by Elizabeth McGinley and Natasha Bell's three hits apiece on the day, move to 16-14 overall and will take on the ‘Roos at SUNY Canton in a single game on Friday afternoon. 

Saints Split Doubleheader with Bears

April 22:  The St. Lawrence University softball team rebounded from a 3-0 loss to SUNY Potsdam in Monday's opener, surging to an 11-8 victory in the nightcap to move to 15-12 on the season.  Senior pitcher Elizabeth McGinley helped herself to a victory in game two, going 2-4 with four runs batted in.  Meanwhile, Leslie Stratton was 5-for-8 with two runs scored and an RBI on the day.
