What initially attracted me to St. Lawrence University was the strong liberal arts program coupled with the sense of community among its students and faculty.  However after taking a variety of courses over my Freshman year, I realized that the Biochemistry provided a route that would allow me to follow my interests while also challenging me.  The most impressive aspect of St. Lawrence's strong science program however, is the accessibility of the faculty.  Many of my professors go above and beyond to ensure that each of their students succeeds, while also challenging them to grow as a scientist.

St. Lawrence also provides the opportunity to work with professors to research topics that could potentially have modern applications. For my SYE, I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Skeels to design and create a stabilized Glucose-Galactose Binding Protein, which could be used for glucose sensing in diabetes.
