Academics

Students who enroll in the program at Kansai Gaidai University will participate in their Asian Studies Program. All students will be required to take Japanese language.  They will be placed in the appropriate course depending upon their language level.  Although there is significant emphasis on Japanese language, the strength of the Asian Studies Program is its exposure to various issues and subject matters.  This allows participants to examine Japanese, and on a larger scale, Asian culture from various perspectives.

Eligibility

Students in all major fields, with appropriate academic preparation, motivation, and interest in Japan may apply to this program. Qualified sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to apply. First Year students are not eligible to apply. Students currently on disciplinary, social, or academic probation are not eligible to apply for, or participate in, off-campus study programs. In addition, students with outstanding disciplinary fines, service hours and/or education program requirements are not eligible to participate in the program.
