St. Lawrence University invites applications for the position of Financial Analyst.  Under the general direction of the Vice President for Finance, and in conjunction with the Director of Budget, the Financial Analyst supports financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data.  Conducts financial analysis related to general planning and specific projects.  Fosters working partnerships across the university to effectively carry out job responsibilities in the best interests of the university with impeccable integrity.

A bachelor’s degree is required as well as at least 3-5 years of experience in finance, budget and accounting, preferably in a higher education or non-profit environment.  Proven experience in financial systems and computer applications is required.  Equivalent combination of education and documented experience and training in the areas identified will be considered.

Must be able to analyze, interpret and communicate financial operating results to provide information, guidance and technical support to departments.  Must possess excellent analytical, written and oral communications skills with proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.  Strong organizational skills and attention to details are required.  Understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of General Accounting Standards Board’s (GASB), Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB) and general accounting is preferred.  Experience with Datatel/Elluican’s Colleague, Excel, and Access as well as the ability to utilize and evaluate financial systems is preferred.
