Faculty Accomplishments

The geology faculty at St. Lawrence University consists of five faculty members supported by a full-time technician (Mr. Matt Van Brocklin) and half-time secretary (Ms. Sherrie LaRose).  The primary expertise of our faculty includes carbonate sedimentology, paleontology, volcanology, glacial geology, and geochemistry; although their research interests are broad and span a range of topics.  Research is supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Petroleum Research Fund of the American Chemical Society, The James Street Fund, University Funds, and funds from numerous smaller granting organizations.  Two of our faculty received the annual J. Calvin Keene Award for high standards of personal scholarship, effective teaching, and moral concern.  The faculty sincerely enjoy working closely with students and typically publish or present with student collaborators at regional and national meetings.
