At St. Lawrence Laura was a double major in Global Studies and Environmental Studies with areas of concentration included United States and Africa. She studied French along with Kiswahili at both St. Lawrence and during her study abroad semester in Kenya. Prior to studying abroad in Kenya, she studied off campus on the Adirondack Semester. She also completed a minor in Outdoor Studies. Laura became a GS major because she felt having an understanding of differences and other cultures fosters a more peaceful planet where equality can dominate. She enjoyed being a Global Studies major most because it incorporates individual cultures as well as the societal structures that have worked to divide the world into the developed and developing nations.
