Outdoor Studies Program
The Outdoor Studies Program has three divisions: the Outdoor Studies Minor, the Outdoor Program, and the Adirondack Semester. The Program aims to develop students’ appreciation for nature and the human place in it. It provides experiential education through outdoor activities, and academic exploration of different concepts of nature and the human place in it.
Through the Outdoor Program, Outdoor Studies promotes experiences in the out-of-doors and the chance to acquire outdoor skills and knowledge. Through the Outdoor Studies Minor and the Adirondack Semester it fosters an experiential, emotional, and intellectual understanding of nature and human relations with nature. Students participating in the Adirondack Semester study environmental ethics and the natural and cultural history of the Adirondack region while living on a remote lake in the Adirondack Park.
